Across the world, people are choosing to leave their phones behind, and the numbers show just how fast this shift is happening.
A new kind of social gathering is spreading fast: events where phones are simply not part of the experience. According to Eventbrite, phone-free, offline and analog events grew 567% between 2024 and 2025, expanding from just 5 countries to 12 in a single year, with attendance up 121%.
Gen Z and Millennials, the generations that grew up permanently online, are the ones driving this change. The United Kingdom leads the trend, with events up 1,200% and attendance up 1,441%, while the United States is seeing similar momentum in group and community formats. What people are chasing is longer conversations, more eye contact, and simply being present.
The pattern points to something deeper than nostalgia: digital exhaustion. Almost half of people between 18 and 35 say they want experiences that feel less curated and more real. Phone-free events are not about rejecting technology, they are about rebalancing it, and that search for authentic connection may be one of the most hopeful signals of this moment.
